Butterfly garden

Today the weather was stunning, the sun was shining, the birds were singing and some butterflies paid us a visit. With these images in my head, I went crafting.

I did something very unusual for me, and pulled out some pool party cardstock for my card base.

A garden is never complete without some butterflies joining the party.

Little Baby - #GDP003

I find it very interesting how my mood changes what I choose to create with. The theme, Baby, doesn't often lead to someone picking up some black, white and tip top taupe DSP, but today it did.

Most people would focus on the blue, pinks or maybe even lemon colours, but not me today.

No cute images, just straight to the point with a little gold thrown in to celebrate the occasion.

So you may wonder if someone close to me is about to hear the pitter patter of tiny feet soon. The answer is, not that I know of this time. Today I am playing along with the Global Design Project challenge theme - Baby.

Once I put this card together I knew it needed a little something, so I popped on a gold button and added some white twine. A little element without being a gender choice. This card will sit in my stash waiting for the right opportunity to find a new home.

Crazy Crafters September Blog Hop - Theme: Holiday Catalogue

Welcome to the latest Crazy Crafters Blog Hop. This time our theme is holiday catalogue. So this means if you follow the hop, you will find a range of ideas for products from the Stampin' up! Holiday Catalogue which was released on 1st September. We hope you find great inspiration from the projects.

You may just be starting the blog hop here at my blog - Rosalie Desmond or may have come from the person previous to me in the list. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all the projects. As I mentioned at the moment you are visiting Rosalie Desmond.

I'm sure that this is not the first time I have said this, but I LOVE this catalogue. If you haven't had a chance to look at it yet, I suggest that you do. I have a link to an online version of the catalogue in my sidebar. The hard part for me was working out just which of the amazing products I wanted to high light today.

I decided that I would give you all another example of a card that uses the Reason for the Season stamp set and the matching Festive Flower punch.

This time I moved away from the traditional colours and used wisteria wonder card stock, elegant eggplant ink and some daffodil delight thrown in.

The main feature of this card is the flower, which is created by using the stamp set for the lines in the flower, and then punching them out using the festive flower punch.

You've Got... Pastels

The card today is nice and simple, using the You've Got This stamp set from the 2015-2016 Annual Catalogue.

The flower is coloured in using Stampin' Write markers.

Another Cute Christmas

I think I may of said this before, but I will say it again anyway, I love this cute little stamp set.

This time I have used the little angel image.

I have hand coloured this in using Stampin' Write markers. I need some practice still with the markers, but colouring sure is fun!

Thinking of Christmas

Keeping with the pastel theme of late, I decided that I would stick away from the traditional colours, but yet have a traditional image.

Of course as it was Christmas I just had to add a little bling.

Getting Ready for Christmas

I am on my way to having my Christmas cards ready in time for Christmas. Now it is time to get stuck into making some Christmas tags to label presents.

Today I thought I would make a simple one using the Wondrous Wreath.

This one uses a combination of real red ink and old olive. Very traditional colours.

Christmas with Flowers

There are so many images from my childhood that mean Christmas - a Poinsettia is one of them. I remember more than one Christmas when my Mum would purchase one.

So in the spirit of the Christmas Flower, I created this card using the Reason for the Season stamp set which was recently released in the 2015 Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalogue. I loved this simple use of the stamp set to create my background.

The flowers have been heat embossed in clear, which brings out the colour of the card stock and gives it a shine and a little pop. The sentiment "A very Merry Christmas to You" is also from the Reason for the Season stamp set. All I have added is a simple piece of white ribbon. Sometimes simple is the way to go.

Now while I, and many others refer to them as flowers, they are not in fact flowers at all.

The red colouring does not come from the flowers; the flowers are the white insignificant clusters in the centre. These coloured bracts are actually modified leaves (Information directly from Gardening Australia ABC).

I hope you enjoy this card as much as I enjoyed making it.

A Subtle Girl - #GDP001

I am pretty exited today about playing along with a brand new challenge. Today I am using the very first Global Design Project Challenge to inspire my card.

These colours certainly did give me a challenge. I tend to be a "brights girl" or stick to classic black and white.

This the colour challenge which inspired my project today.

Thank you for joining me today. I hope you check out all the other projects that have entered in this challenge, and just maybe you may play along as well.

And A Very Merry Christmas to You...

I know I have been using this punch a lot lately, but as you can tell - I love it!

This time I have teamed it up with a plain Daffodil Delight background. Nice and simple.

The sentiment from Reason for the Season was inked with Real Red, then I added clear embossing powder and heated. I love using this technique to help my projects pop and make the recipient feel extra special.

Festive Flower Punch

I don't think I have blogged many products that use punches, but I do love them. They are so easy to use and so effective.

The Stampin' Up! 2015 Holiday Catalogue has a couple of new punches in it, but the one that caught my eye is the Festive Flower Punch. I can see this being used on cards, on boxes, on tags and even to dress up the Christmas table.

You can either buy the punch on its own or as a bundle with a matching Reason for the Season stamp set, saving yourself 15%. The stamp set is really cute both with and without the punch.

Now lets see what it looks like in a different colour for non-Christmas events. Now to decide what I am going to do with this one...a project for another day I'd say.

As you can see, there are a few layers involved with creating this flower. Stampin' Up! have released a video to help you learn how to put this together.

I can't wait to see what everyone else does with this punch.

And we are live!

To be totally honest I have never been so excited about a catalogue before!

I love this one to pieces. In fact I found it extremely difficult not to go totally over board and buy way more than my poor little (well it is actually taking over a room), can handle.

I have added a link to the catalogue on the left hand side for your perusal, or you can click here: 2015 Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalogue. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Here are a few ideas from Stampin' Up! I will be back tomorrow with some of my mine.
